The Council recently welcomed a delegation of South Koreans who were keen to learn about our Community Wealth Building (CWB) activity.
Clackmannanshire is one of just five areas in Scotland where the Scottish Government is supporting the delivery of CWB action plans.
CWB aims to ensure more wealth is generated, circulated and retained in our communities, and Clackmannanshire was only the second council in Scotland to adopt this pioneering approach.
The South Korean visitors were here in Scotland to find out more about how CWB is being delivered here and to share their own experiences.
The Provost, Councillor Donald Balsillie, was delighted to welcome the South Korean visitors to Council HQ at Kilncraigs, before they moved onto Alloa Tower and the town’s Wimpy Park.
The Provost said: “Our officers provided a comprehensive overview of our Community Wealth Building activity and set it in the context of our wider economic story.
“The visit gave us a tremendous opportunity to promote Clackmannanshire to a new audience and, hopefully, fresh links can be developed.”
The Wimpy Park development in Alloa is just one example of CWB in Clackmannanshire and has grown to become a key feature of the town, under the stewardship of the Wimpy Park Community Group.
Included in the South Korean delegation were members of the Hope Foundation, a non-governmental organisation which aims to build solidarity with local communities and support the empowerment of local partner organisations.
