Clackmannan Early Learning and Childcare Centre has been praised in a newly published Care Inspectorate Report.

The ELC, which is within Clackmannan Primary School, was visited by the inspection team on 23 January 2023.

The inspectors evaluated three key areas as ‘good’. These were:

  • care, play and learning
  • leadership
  • staff team

The setting was evaluated as ‘very good’.

Some key messages from the unannounced inspection were:

  • Staff were nurturing and caring which enabled positive relationships between children and their families
  • Children benefitted from unhurried snack times which supported their independence
  • The nursery environment was safe, clean and well-maintained
  • The service made good use of their local environment which supported children to feel part of the community
  • The senior management team and all staff were dedicated to the ongoing development of the service

The inspection team also found that the children benefitted from a well-designed nursery environment that was furnished to a high standard.

The nursery has quiet spaces which provide calm safe and peaceful places for children.

The inspectors said the staff were warm, responsive and caring in their approach and were passionate about their roles.

Inspectors also stated that staff members were committed to the children and families in the service.

Communication with families was positive, with some families describing the nursery like an extended family.

The inspection found that almost all staff had leadership roles and worked well together to share responsibilities and develop their areas across the nursery.

Education spokesperson, Councillor Graham Lindsay said: “This inspection report shows the high quality early learning and childcare that is provided in Clackmannanshire, helping our children to get the very best start in life.

“Well done to the caring and dedicated staff of Clackmannan ELC for providing such a nurturing environment for the children there.

“This report is a real cause for celebration and I’d like to congratulate everyone at Clackmannan ELC."
