There has been an issue with damp at St Mungo's RC Primary School, Alloa, for the past year.

Inspections have been made and remedial work carried out, but the damp smell has remained. Recent investigations have shown that water levels under the floor have continued to rise.

The health and safety of our children and staff is our top priority and we have explored different options to ensure an appropriate environment is available immediately. Alloa Academy is the most appropriate option at this time and as such, children and staff will decant as a precautionary measure until further investigations and repairs can be carried out.

From Tuesday 17th April St Mungo’s RC Primary will be located within a designated area on the first floor of Alloa Academy. This will allow the school to be self-contained within one area of the school thus maintaining the school identity.

Education spokesperson Councillor Graham Lindsay said: “I appreciate that this decision has had to be made at short notice, but the health and safety of our children and staff has to be a priority. This Council is committed to keeping dialogue open between all affected parties and there will be ongoing engagement with the wider school community.”
