Clackmannanshire Council has installed five new electric vehicle (EV) charging points.

The points are at Dumyat Centre, Menstrie, Dollar CAP, Murray Square, Tillicoultry and Tron Court, Tullibody as well as a new rapid charger in Kilncraigs car park in Alloa.

The charging points are free to use. The new rapid charger can facilitate an 80% charge to an electric vehicle in a round 30 minutes (dependent on the size of the vehicles battery).

Providing charging points is essential to encouraging the uptake of electric transport. These five new points compliment four existing points in Alloa. The Council's fleet includes four electric vans and two electric sweepers.

Councillor Donald Balsillie, Enterprise and Environment Convener, said: "I'm pleased that Clackmannanshire Council is driving change by making it easier for drivers to use electric vehicles; with every charging point being used we are supporting the technologies of the future."
