Do you know someone who deserves a nomination for the Clackmannanshire Citizen of the Year award? The Council is looking for a person who has contributed to help out the local community, or has been there for others in times of need.

The winner of the award, which is sponsored by the Lord Lieutenant's Trust, will be announced at a ceremony at the Speirs Centre in March 2016.

The Council is also looking for nominations for Young Citizen of the Year, a category which is being awarded for the fourth year. Young Citizen of the Year provides an opportunity to recognise an inspirational local person, under the age of 25, who has enriched the lives of others or has been selfless in their actions.

This is the 13th year that the Provost of Clackmannanshire will host the ceremony to recognise the dedication and commitment that local people have made to help improve the quality of life throughout the county.

Provost Tina Murphy said: "We want to pay tribute to the dedicated women and men in Clackmannanshire who give their time and effort to make a real difference to the lives of their fellow residents.

"Often, these volunteers are working away quietly, but they are making such a valuable contribution to our community that they deserve to be honoured. So please take the opportunity to say a big thank you to these amazing people by nominating them for either the Citizen or Young Citizen of the Year awards."

Christine Calder is the current Citizen of the Year and received this accolade in recognition of her work as a founder member of Tullibody History Group and for being instrumental in the opening of the Tullibody Heritage Centre.

Chloe Lemaitre was named Young Citizen of the Year in recognition of her work as a volunteer for Cross Skills, a Youth Services project which aims to bring young people and older adults within the community together to share skills and provide support for one another.

Nomination forms are available on ClacksWeb with the closing date for nominations 25th January 2016. Further information is available by calling 01259 452011or by emailing emckinsley@clacks.gov.uk
