Pupils at Tillicoultry Primary School have received a impressive award from one of the county's top tourist attractions.
Around 1,000 schools visit Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh every year to take a journey in time through our planet's past, present and future. This year, two of Tillicoultry's Primary 6 classes did just that. These budding boffins learned all about climate change, the wildest weather in the solar system, volcanoes and Scotland's rocks. There was so much for the pupils to see and do, with interactive exhibits and a 4D experience of the earth's biomes, that the realities of climate change were just the tip of the iceberg!
Every month the Dynamic Earth Education Team names the school who has made the 'best school visit'. The winner demonstrates the best behaviour, attitude and enthusiasm to learn. The winning school is awarded a certificate and put forward for the chance to win the prestigious Annual Great Visit Award.
This year, our Tillicoultry pupils not only won the monthly award in for November 2011 but were also chosen to be the winners of the Annual Great Visit Award!
Education, Sport and Leisure Convener Councillor Ellen Forson said: "Congratulations to Tillicoultry Primary on this wonderful achievement. These pupils are a credit to Clackmannanshire, representing their school in an commendable way at this popular attraction."

As part of their award, the pupils, helpers and teachers, Miss Shrimpton and Ms Somerville, returned for a free visit which included another workshop called Rock ebay and an incredible 3D film experience. Perhaps the highlight for the pupils was being presented with a beautiful engraved crystal globe by the Dynamic Earth dinosaur mascot.
