The final round of judging of the Council's annual Garden Competition took place on Wednesday 3rd August.
The Council would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone who entered the Garden Competition. This year's overall winners are Rosemary and Tom Ramage of Marquis Drive, Clackmannan. Mr and Mrs Ramage are garden competition stalwarts and were also named overall winners in 2008.
The regular judges were joined by Neil Smith Depute Grounds Superintendent at Stirling University along with Provost Derek Stewart.
Neil said: "All the gardens were of a very high standard and it was difficult to pick a winner in many of the categories. The overall winning garden was excellent and you could see how much hard work they had put in with some really good specimen plants. Their hanging baskets in particular were outstanding. Many of the gardeners had packed a lot into a small space and made good use of the space they had. The best allotment was top quality."
Provost Stewart said: "The quality of this year's entries was again impressive. Despite the recent challenging weather conditions, we saw many gardens which were really colourful and some particularly lovely containers. It was a pleasure to meet the enthusiastic gardeners. I would like to thank all this year's entrants for their hard work and I look forward to welcoming the winners to the award ceremony next month."
The competition trophies, certificates and prizes will be presented at a reception hosted by Provost Derek Stewart at Kilncraigs on the evening of Friday 2nd September.
