Miss Scotland, Katherine Brown, will attend Menstrie Primary School on Wednesday 9 June from 9 to 12 to help the school pupils enjoy playing tennis. Katherine is a member and a coach from Dunblane Tennis Club. As a junior she represented Scotland at tennis and is currently a Sports Ambassador for the Scottish Government.

The pupils of Menstrie Primary School will get tennis as part of their PE lesson next week and will also get the chance to play outdoors during playtime. The tennis lessons will be led by the primary PE teacher, Mrs Williams accompanied by qualified tennis coaches from Dunblane Tennis Club.

Councillor Bobby McGill, spokesperson for Sport and Leisure, said: "This tennis promotion will raise the profile of the sport and encourage young people and their families to take up their rackets. We're hugely grateful to Dunblane Tennis Club for supporting the event."

Members of the local Menstrie community will be looking for local support for tennis at the Menstrie Gala Day on Saturday 12 June. There will be opportunities to have a go at mini tennis on the day.

Thanks to Cashback funding, there will be mini tennis lessons for juniors at the Dumyat Centre on Saturdays 10 to 12 for 10 weeks, from 19 June all the way through the summer. Tennis Scotland will be providing qualified coaches. Booking for these sessions will be through the Active Schools Co-ordinator at Menstrie Primary: lessons are just 50p per hour.

There will also be come and try sessions for families who wish to try tennis at the outdoor courts at Lornshill Academy during the summer. Please contact sports development for any enquiries - 01259 450000.
