This summer take a break and explore the world from the comfort of your own home. Join in our new Adult Summer Reading Challenge on the theme of “Around the World”. (If you're looking for our Summer Reading Challenge for children please click on the link).
The challenge is to read 6 books in 6 weeks – any 6 books of your own choice. As there will be restrictions on visiting the libraries this summer you may choose items from your own shelves or download titles from our e-book and e-audio library.
The books you select may feature stories, locations and characters from here in the UK or anywhere in the world. The authors may be British or international and the book can be a translation or published in Britain or abroad. Try some new authors and genres or re-read an old favourite.
It can be a book, an e-book, an e-audio book, a graphic novel, short story, poem, newspaper article or a blog post.
The Reading Challenge runs from Monday 6 July until Friday 14 August.
Please email the library at firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name, library membership number and email address. We will then send you a Summer Reading Challenge record sheet or you can download it from this page.
As you read the 6 books, please keep a note of each author/title on the Summer Reading Challenge record sheet, give them a rating from 1 (very bad) to 5 (very good) and write a short review (140 words max) for each title you read.
Once you have completed the form, return it to the library at e: email@example.com
Once you have submitted your completed form you will be entered in the prize draw. The winner of the draw will be selected at random and will receive book vouchers.
The closing date for entries is Friday 28 August 2020, and the winner will be notified shortly afterwards.
We also have a Reading Challenge running for children.
