Two creative Tullibody school children have been chosen as the winners of a poetry competition sponsored by Lord Lieutenant Sheena Cruickshank.

Mrs Cruickshank invited every primary school in the county to take part in the poetry competition as part of the county's programme of events to mark 60 years since the end of the Second World War.

The pupils, Louise Milligan from St Serf's and Rebecca O'Neill from St Bernadette's, will be invited to attend this weekend's Songs of Praise and read out their winning poems as part of the service.

The non-denominational Songs of Praise is being held on Armistice Sunday (13th November) at 3pm in Alloa Town Hall. You are invited to send a photographer to the service, which will last around 45 minutes.

An 80-strong choir and 35-member orchestra from Dollar Academy will be watched by around 400 participants who have taken up free tickets for the event.

The service, which will involve Ministers from five Alloa churches, will focus on civilian experiences of the war.

A wide range of local people including representatives of uniformed organisations and veterans have been invited to join in the service, which will be an opportunity for young and old to mingle and exchange experiences.
