Prospective tenants of newly refurbished Sauchie flats will get a glimpse of what their potential new home could look like when a unique new show flat opens its doors on Monday.

The flat at 81 Craigview is a first for Clackmannanshire, as it is owned by the local authority, and is part of a marketing initiative to attract new tenants to currently empty flats.

And the initiative has proved so successful that almost 100 people have shown an interest in the flats, which prior to refurbishment, had been empty for some months.

You are invited to attend the opening of the show flat on Monday 7th February at 2pm when the first prospective tenants will be shown around by Councillor Sam Ovens.

The condition of the first block of eight two bedroom and two single bedroom flats had deteriorated. But as the show flat will demonstrate, the homes now boast modern décor throughout and some floor coverings. The opportunity was also taken to modernise the kitchens, fit overbath showers and install gas central heating during the refurbishment.

Prospective tenants have also been attracted by the choice element which has been introduced to the allocations scheme for the first time. Each property is being marketed individually with people choosing to be considered rather than being allocated through the waiting list. The nature of the flats means they have attracted interest from a range of tenants including single people, families with one child and elderly people.

Councillor Sam Ovens, Convener of the Housing, Health and Social Services Committee said: "I am delighted that there has been so much interest in the flats at Craigview, but having seen the quality of the show flat for myself I am not surprised.

"I'm sure it won't be long before this block is flats is once again home to a number of happy new residents."
