Review of Polling Districts and Places in Clackmannanshire

Clackmannanshire Council is carrying out a public consultation on its polling districts and polling places during October and November, with the aim to seek comments from residents and interested groups on the current division of polling districts and the suitability of the buildings used on election days for polling purposes.

This consultation is not about ward boundaries which have recently changed for UK Parliamentary General Elections, as these are set by the Boundary Commission for Scotland.

Nikki Bridle, Chief Executive and Returning Officer for Clackmannanshire Council said: "The Council has a statutory obligation to carry out a review of its polling districts and polling places. In carrying out the review, the Council has to take into account a range of factors in trying to find a balance which ensures the integrity and efficiency of the poll, together with reasonable accessibility for voters. It is important that anyone who wishes to comment on current and potential alternative arrangements take the opportunity to provide feedback through the consultation process.”

This is the first stage of the consultation and the public have until 1 December 2023 to make their representations.  The consultation can be found on the consultation page

The feedback received will inform the proposals which will go out for final consultation in March and April next year. These proposals and any further representations will be presented to Council to agree.

Further information on each of the current polling districts and polling places, the Returning Officer’s representations, including any considerations for potential change, and the comments received during the consultation can be found on the website or alternatively contact the election office 01259 452266.
