Four community projects are set to receive funding for significant improvements.

Today’s Special Council meeting heard that the Council will receive £444,000 from the Scottish Government’s Place Based Investment Fund (PBIF).

The PBIF is a set sum of funding from the Scottish Government for local authorities which seeks to support projects that will improve the lives of individuals in their community. Each year, Councils must submit their applications to receive funding towards specific projects which meet the PBIF criteria and aims.

Last year, Clackmannanshire Council was awarded £512,000 for the Primrose Street dementia friendly housing development which was awarded a Town Centre Living Award for its re-energising impact on Alloa town centre.

This year, the Council has secured funding to install artificial grass at Tullibody Civic Centre’s former bowling green, install artificial grass and mobile floodlights at Hawkhill Community Centre, build new play facilities at Wimpy Park and to create a new bike track at George V Park in Clackmannan. The projects will be finished within a year and if there is funding left over, it will go toward the playpark replacement programme.

Council Leader Ellen Forson said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to make considerable improvements to Tullibody Civic Centre, Hawkhill Community Centre, Wimpy Park and George V Park. These projects will go a long way in ensuring local facilities meet the needs of our people as well as making Clackmannanshire more attractive to businesses and people, ensuring fair opportunities for all.”
