'Treasures of Clackmannanshire - an Introduction to Our Heritage Collections' is the title of the latest temporary exhibition at the Speirs Centre.

The exhibition is now open and features a range of items from the Council's collection demonstrating the area's rich and varied cultural and social history. Entry is free and all are welcome to come along. Objects from the collection will be rotated throughout the exhibition.

The exhibition includes a number of items relating to Patons & Baldwins' Kilncraigs Mill, including a wages tin and a knitted bathing suit.

Among the items on display will be the Harviestoun Soup Tureen, a rare item of memorabilia from one of Clackmannanshire's great houses which was presented to a member of one of the most influential families. The lid is engraved with a scene of Castle Campbell. The tureen is inscribed with a dedication to Craufurd Tait of Harviestoun, to whom it was presented in 1811.

David Allan, who is known as the 'Scottish Hogarth', was born in Alloa, son of the Shoremaster, in 1744. This exhibition is a chance to see one of his works, 'A Portrait of Two Boys' which has never been exhibited elsewhere.

'Treasures of Clackmannanshire - an Introduction to Our Heritage Collections' runs until 25th April.
