The first ever Clackmannanshire School Dance Competition was held on 4th February at Lornshilll Academy, with 15 groups from both Alloa and Lornshill Academies battling it out on stage with intricate steps, graceful moves and pulsating beats.

Dancers wore elaborate costumes and there was sensational music and pivoting dance moves. Choreographers were on hand to coax their teammates and fellow pupils to shine and dazzle on stage.

A panel of judges, including Depute Council Leader Donald Balsillie, and local dance teacher Rochelle Duncan offered constructive feedback and advice for the performers.

The evening began with the junior section who demonstrated an high standard of dancing, and this was what the excited audience could expect for the whole evening. After an interval it was time for the senior dancers to grace the stage. From duo acts to whole class groups, the judges had the arduous task of deciding who would be the winners and runners-up from both the junior and senior sections and the final results were as follows:

Junior Section - Winners: Junior Team, Alloa Academy
Runners up: Dynamics, Lornshill Academy

Senior Section - Winners: Senior Team, Alloa Academy
Runners up: Thistle, Lornshill Academy & Etoile Noir, Lornshill Academy.

Thanks go to everyone who helped make this event a success. All proceeds from the event through refreshment sales, ticket sales and raffle will be going toward school sports fund and Rachel House Children's Hospice.
