2014 was an outstanding year for local sportspeople and Clackmannanshire Sports Council's annual awards night is an opportunity to recognise great performances and achievements in a range of categories.

Nominations are now being sought for the awards, with the event taking place on 19th March 2015 at Alloa Town Hall.

There is a new format for the event, which is now a separate awards evening in its own right. Nominations are being sought in 10 categories:

  • Junior sports personality of the year
  • Senior sports personality of the year
  • Team of the year
  • Primary school team of the year
  • Secondary school team of the year
  • Triumph over adversity
  • Services to sport
  • Enid Barton - coach of the year
  • Young leader / volunteer award
  • Lifetime contribution to sport award

Sports Council chairman Colin Lynch said: "This event, which has a new format, is an opportunity to recognise the efforts and performances of our athletes and coaches in all sports and acknowledge the influence they have in developing the next generation of athletes and dedicated sports volunteers. I would encourage as many nominations as possible."
The closing date for nominations has now been extended to Friday 30th January and the entry form can be found online at ClacksWeb and in local council offices and libraries.
