Work gets underway this week on environmental improvement proposals aimed at transforming Sauchie Main Street.

A consultation programme took place to get views from local residents and businesses on the Council's plans, and the responses have helped to shape the work that is now underway.

The works will include:
- Refurbishing the exterior of buildings in Sauchie Main Street
- Upgrading paths
- Removing the raised beds
- Installing new energy efficient street lights
- Installing new traffic signals of at junction of Main Street and Greygoran

Council Leader Gary Womersley said: "I am delighted that work is getting underway to improve the environment of Sauchie Main Street for the people who live and work in this area. Sauchie will be the first recipient of investment under the Village and Small Town Centre Initiative. We have secured £648,000-worth of funding for these improvements which will make a real difference to this area ."

The work is expected to take place in phases over the next year, and information has been sent to local residents.

The project is the first under the umbrella of the £1m Village and Small Town Centre Initiative to improve main streets in Clackmannanshire over the next seven years.
