Alloa Community Council - Interim Election

Several Community Councillors have recently resigned from Alloa Community Council which has unfortunately taken membership below the level required for it to operate. In accordance with standard procedure, Clackmannanshire Council will now initiate an interim election so that Alloa Community Council can fill the vacancies. The first stage of an interim election is to seek nominations from local residents to become Community Councillors.

The nomination process is simple - just fill out one of our nomination forms and get two people to support you. Anyone who is over the age of 16 and who appears on our electoral roll in the Community Council area can stand.

Provost Tina Murphy said: "I was disappointed to hear that the membership of Alloa Community Council had fallen so low, but I am sure that the community will rally and they will be back up to full strength in due course. Alloa Community Council represents the largest and most diverse community in Clackmannanshire and ideally we would like to see this reflected in the membership.

"Community Councils have a statutory function and, as such, are recognised as an important link between their community and Clackmannanshire Council. Everyone has some skill or experience that they can bring to a Community Council and it is with this in mind I would urge people to give Alloa their support and, where they can, get involved."

Closing date for nominations is Thursday 10th October 2013. For further information or to obtain a nomination pack, please contact: the Council's Elections Office, on 01259 452266 or
