The mid-week volunteer group, organised by Clackmannanshire Council's Ranger Service will be heading out to Muckhart next Wednesday 26th June to do some work on the Pitgober footpath.

The path is one of our Clackmannanshire's core paths and has already had a significant amount of work carried out on it recently.

Enterprise and Environment Convener, Councillor Donald Balsillie said: "Volunteers are most likely to be cutting back vegetation and branches as well as assisting in repairs to path surfaces."

Volunteers are asked to meet at 11am at Vicars Bridge car park, with the work scheduled to be completed by 3pm.

The mid-week volunteer group is open to anyone over-18 who is interested in the countryside and wants to do something practical to improve it for wildlife and people.

The group is run by the Council and each task will be led by one of the Countryside Rangers.

The group meets once a month on a Wednesday from 11am -- 3pm. The tasks carried out are varied. Some tasks are aimed at improving access to the countryside while others are aimed at enhancing the biodiversity of the area. Full instruction will be given for each task.

Councillor Balsillie added: "There is the opportunity for volunteers to attend first aid courses and other training, all free of charge."

Volunteers are asked to bring along with them a packed lunch, and a drink and wear warm waterproof clothing, stout footwear and carry a rucksack.
