A fly tipping crackdown in Alloa has proved to be a success with a dramatic drop in the number of incidents.

Thanks are due to a large number of local residents who have been reporting incidents to the Council, with one £50 fine handed out, which has since been paid in full.

In addition to the fine there were three other official warnings handed out to fly tipping offenders in Bowhouse Road and Forth Crescent.

Enterprise and Environment Convener, Councillor Donald Balsillie said: "I would like to say a personal thanks on behalf of the Council to the number of residents who have responsibly reported fly tipping incidents. These reports were immediately investigated and acted upon.

"As a result, the number of fly tipping incidents in the south area of Alloa have dropped dramatically. The one offender who received a £50 fine was also caught on CCTV, dumping a number of carpet cut-offs which he dumped out of a suitcase.

"Warnings were issued that a crackdown would be carried out and potential fly tippers have taken this on board. I hope this improved trend will now continue for the good of the residents who live in the area and the environment in general."

Monitoring of the area will continue, and the public are asked to remain vigilant and report any incidents by calling 450000 or using the 'report it' function on ClacksWeb.
