Now into its third year, World Book Night 2013 will take place on Tuesday 23rd April.

Members of the public are invited to come along to Ben Cleuch Centre in Tillicoultry at 4pm on 23rd April when a free book-giving event will take place in the new library. Librarian Tracy Docherty will be giving away copies of 'The Secret Scripture' by Sebastian Barry, 'The White Queen' by Philippa Gregory and 'Damage' by Josephine Hart.

Education, Sport and Leisure Convenor, Councillor Ellen Forson welcoming this initiative, said: "We are once again thrilled to be part of World Book Night. This event is a fantastic opportunity for the library service to engage with those who don't regularly read or have access to books in their communities.

"Our staff are passionate readers, who enjoy recommending books they love to other readers and the initiative aims to spread the joy of reading and give the opportunity for readers to try a different authors or different types of books."

The library service's participation in World Book Night is supported by The Reading Agency, the reader development agency for Libraries' work for readers. The agency is an independent charity, funded by the Arts Council.

World Book Night is an industry-wide initiative launched in 2011 and will see 400,000 free books given away by readers to members of the public across the UK and Ireland.
