Fun in Athletics Festival

Tullibody Civic Centre played hosts last week to Clackmannanshire Councils Active Schools 'Fun in Athletics' festival for primary and secondary aged pupils,

A total of 51 pupils attended the event from Alloa Academy EASN, Alva Academy support base, Park Primary School and Lochies School, in activities such as javelin, chest push, standing long jump, relays and much more.

Shona Malcolm, Disability Athletics Development Officer, Scottish Athletics and Lynne Glen, Scottish Disability Sport Regional Manager came along to assist at the event.

Lynne said it was great to see so many young people with additional support needs taking part and benefitting from the event.

Education, Sport and Leisure Convener, Councillor Ellen Forson said: "Everyone involved had a great 'fun filled' time and some of the pupils achieved personal bests beating their previous records."

All of the top achievers in each of the 10 activity offered on the day will be invited to represent Clackmannanshire at the Forth Valley Disability Sport 'Inter Area Decathlon Final' to be held at Grangemouth Sports Stadium in February.
