Clackmannanshire Council are backing the Get Ready For Winter campaign and are well prepared for even the severest of winters.
Clackmannanshire Council's Convener of Enterprise and Environment, Councillor Donald Balsillie, who this week inspected the "Salt Mouintain" at the Council's Forthbank depot, said: "In Clackmannanshire there will be no reduction in the number of gritting bins or their spacing from last year and salting will be maintained at the same level. The criteria for filling bins is unchanged.
"We have 3,500 tonnes of salt in stock, the same as last year, and have just over 300 grit bins for salt use at locations known for increased risk due to icy conditions."
As people celebrate Christmas and New Year the message is that there is no need for people in Clackmannanshire to feel isolated when severe weather hits. There are many options available for Clacks residents to find out information.
"The telephone is not the only way to stay in touch, added Councillor Balsillie. " There's plenty of advice on how to plan ahead and prepare for bad whether at home, in the car and in your community.
"If the weather turns severe, the home page of Clacksweb will be dedicated to winter information and advice. Follow Clackmannanshire Council on Clacksweb on Facebook and Twitter. Thousands have already joined Clackmannanshire Council on Facebook and follow the feeds on Twitter."
You can also tune in to your local radio station Central FM for the latest updates.
Councillor Balsillie added: "Individual school closures are broadcast as and when the decision is made not to open an individual school."
John Gillespie, Head of Community and Regulatory Services, went on: "Clackmannanshire Council is committed to keeping Clackmannanshire moving whatever the weather and staff will be working 24 hours a day, seven days a week dedicated to this task.
"We have gritters of various shapes and sizes on standby to treat Clackmannanshire's roads as well as mini-tractors to clear and grit footpaths. In the most severe weather, we will have access to additional personnel.
"We hope that Clackmannanshire's residents can be assured that we will be working flat out to keep Clackmannanshire on the move this winter."
Scottish Power have prepared packs to give out to those in need should any power cuts arise. In addition they have sent out leaflets that the Council have placed in libraries and access points.
Scottish Power have included analogue phone in these packs as IP (internet based) phones and digital phones do not work with out power and mobile phones are in a similar situation.
The British Red Cross are also prepared for the winter campaign as are the local Voluntary Sector, who are giving the Council access to all sorts of assistance like Mountain Rescue, International Rescue and Lothian 4X4 with a four wheel drive capability.
