Walking, cycling, horse riding or even just walking the dog will all be considered as part of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.

The Code forms part of the Land Reform Act Scotland 2003 and defines responsible access. Scottish Natural Heritage is consulting with a wide range of individuals and groups in a bid to make sure the Code is balanced and covers all of the issues which could affect enjoyment of the outdoors.

But with only fourteen days remaining Clackmannanshire Council is urging local people to get on board and help shape the future Access Code.

John Duffy the Council's Access Officer said: "Only a few weeks are left of what has been an extensive consultation exercise. The new Code and associated Land Reform Act Scotland 2003 will have strong implications for people living in Clackmannanshire due to our extensive countryside. Local people should get involved now, before its too late, and play their part in shaping what will be an important piece of legislation.

Local people can get involved by writing to Scottish Natural Heritage, Battleby, Redgorton, Perth PH1 3EW, call 01738 444177 or email soac-consultation@snh.gov.uk. Or for more information click onto the Council's award winning website www.clacksweb.org.uk.

The Land Reform Scotland Act 2003 will not come into effect until it has been agreed and approved by the Scottish Parliament in 2004.
