Tools and equipment that will be used to enhance industrial estates and business parks throughout Clackmannanshire, making them more user-friendly and helping ensure they remain free of crime and vandalism, have been donated by Clacksfirst Ltd to Clackmannanshire's Criminal Justice Service.
As part of their ongoing Business Security initiative, Clacksfirst had identified the outside environment of the business parks as key to their overall plan and the donation of the equipment is the latest initiative in an 18-month partnership which has seen resources used on a number of projects all of which have been beneficial to local residents and businesses.
Park benches and picnic tables have been installed at locations throughout Alloa, including the shore area, planter barrels have been renovated and placed in the town centre and within business parks, litter and graffiti have been removed and overgrown bushes and shrubbery have been cut back as part of ongoing general ground maintenance.
Clacksfirst's Kevin Deighan explained; "Through our many consultations with the Scottish Business Crime Centre and Central Scotland Police, we realise that there is a need to control plantation on the business parks. Apart from the overall aesthetics, the more serious aspect is that there should be no area that offers covers to those looking to commit crime.
"As well as landscaping, the Criminal Justice Service has helped massively with our Riverbank Industrial Area project. The new seating and picnic tables have made the shore area safer, cleaner and user friendly for those working in the area as well as the general public."
Councillor George Matchett, Inclusion portfolio holder, said; "The partnership with Clacksfirst has been successful in a number of ways. Not only have they created safer, cleaner and more appealing environments, but all these projects provide suitable and sustainable work for individuals serving community payback orders (CPOs). They provide a positive pathway for offenders and can encourage training, skill enhancement and work experience to those who want to make a positive change to their lives.
"We are very grateful for this latest generous donation of equipment which is essential to the future upkeep of the industrial and business park environments."
