Litter and rubbish on the Wee County's streets had better watch out because there is a new state of the art street sweeper in town.

Nowhere is safe from the £30,000 'green' machine which has an expandable wheel base which allows it to get into all of the County's nooks and crannies.

Funding to buy the high tech 'green' machine road sweeper was awarded through the Community Improvement Zone budget and is on call to attend instances of litter in Lochbrae and Craigview in Sauchie and Hawkhill, Alloa. The rest of the time it's out and about clearing footpaths the length and breadth of the Wee County.

Councillor Donald Balsillie, Convener of the Enterprise and Environment Committee said: "We are very fortunate to have such a high tech 'green' machine to keep our footpaths free of litter. In a recent report by Keep Scotland Beautiful Clackmannanshire scored top points for having the cleanest streets and footpaths.

"However there is always room for improvement. We are carrying out a number of reviews to identify areas where we could do better. The new 'green' machine will most definitely help us keep our streets clean and free from litter."
