Clackmannanshire Council has been rated as having one of the top five websites of local authorities in Scotland.

The Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM) recently published a report called Better Connected 2011, rating public sector websites for how easy they are to use; how effective they are at allowing tasks to be completed online; and how accessible and accurate they are.

Clackmannanshire Council's ClacksWeb (www.clacksweb.org.uk) scored three out of a possible four stars. In Scotland, only the City of Edinburgh Council scored more highly. Clackmannanshire also had one of the highest number of page views per head of population.

Depute Leader Councillor Bobby McGill said, "ClacksWeb has always been at the forefront of accessible websites and in recent years we've been working to provide more services and payment options online. Navigation is always important and our relatively new presence on Twitter and Facebook was invaluable during the severe weather, as it meant we could get messages out to residents instantly. All of this has paid off with one of the top ratings in Scotland and I'd like to thank the team who support and develop the site.

"We'll continue to take on board recommendations from SOCITM to make the site even better for customers. As more and more people prefer using the internet to phoning or coming in to an office, it makes sense to keep this efficient channel as user-friendly as possible."
