Chalita Ronald of Lornshill Academy has been awarded full marks in this year's SQA Advanced Higher Examination.

Her Expressive Folio was produced on the theme of garlic. A detailed exploration was undertaken in a number of different media including black & white and colour photography. Chalita (18) also explored 3D sculptural aspects of the theme as well as analytical drawing, painting in watercolour, acrylics, oils, tempera and a number of colour drawing media.

Chalita's folio will be exhibited at the SQA Understanding Standards event in Stirling in December and may also be photographed as an example of best work on the SQA website.

This is the second time that a pupil from Lornshill Academy has achieved the highest level of success in a National Art Examination. In 2007, the Higher work of Amanda Johnson was exhibited in the SQA Exhibition. All pupils studying Art at Lornshill this year, at all levels, were awarded high marks.

Maggie Johnstone, Faculty Principal Teacher, said: "When you think of the number of secondary schools in Scotland and the tiny proportion of work chosen to be exhibited, we are really delighted that the work of Lornshill pupils has twice reached this highest of standards."

Councillor George Matchett, Inclusion Portfolio Holder, said: "Congratulations to Chalita on this fantastic achievement. Her artwork is stunning and the result of 100% in her Advanced Higher Art is testament to all her hard work."

Chalita, who lives in Tullibody, has just left Lornshill Academy and is now studying Biology at university.
