Central Scotland Police and their partners are supporting an international domestic abuse campaign by launching 16 days of activities in the force area.
For the third year the force, the three local authorities, Rape Crisis, SACRO and Women's Aid have joined forces to support 16 Days of Action for the Elimination of Violence against Women which is aimed at raising awareness of the problems surrounding domestic abuse and violence against women.
Detective Inspector Pat Scroggie, of the force's Family Unit, said: "This is a campaign which we are keen to support as it highlights the issues surrounding domestic abuse.
"We and our partners are fully committed to supporting victims and their families. We hope that by raising awareness this gives people the confidence to report domestic abuse to us.
"Only by working together can we change attitudes toward domestic abuse. We are keen that those who know or suspect domestic abuse is being committed to contact us.
"We know that the victim is often too frightened to take action themselves and feel they have no option but to remain in the abusive relationship. This may be for many reason including because they have children. They may not realise the long-term impact that this has and that there is support out there for them and their children.
"Hopefully through this campaign it will raise awareness and give hope that there is life after domestic abuse."
Those supporting the domestic abuse campaign are wearing white ribbons which are the internationally recognised symbol associated with the campaign.
By wearing a white ribbon, it is a personal pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about domestic abuse and violence against women.
Clackmannanshire Council's leader Janet Cadenhead said: "For the third consecutive year, Clackmannanshire Council is supporting a number of events across Forth Valley to mark the 16 Days of Action campaign. Violence against women is totally unacceptable and a blatant violation of human rights. The council is committed to supporting women and children who experience male violence and is proud to be involved in this campaign.
"An exciting programme of events will take place across Forth Valley to raise awareness within workplaces and the community of the various ways in which male violence can be perpetrated against females and their children. Local residents can get involved by taking part in these events, or by simply wearing the white ribbon to show their solidarity with the campaign."
Towards the end of the 16 Days of Action Central Scotland Police will also be supporting the National Anti-Violence Campaign - Domestic Abuse. For two months officers will be targeting offenders and they warn that they will be clamping down on those who commit domestic abuse.
