Four young people have spent a wild weekend walking in the Trossachs, putting them a step closer to achieving their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

The pupils from across Clackmannanshire were undertaking the expedition section of the Award. They were all members of the Clackmannanshire Open Award Group which is a voluntary organisation run through Clackmannanshire Council supporting young people aiming to achieve their Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

The group walked from Callander to Loch Ard through the scenic Trossachs spending one night camping. The group was led by Anna Roscoe and Emma Dawson and Kenny Wilson were the assessors.

Anna, Emma and Kenny are all volunteers and have undertaken training and assessment in order to supervise young people in locations such as the Trossachs, which are categorised as 'wild country' within the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Clackmannanshire Council runs the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Clackmannanshire. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is an excellent way of encouraging young people to work together, learn new skills and help out in their communities. While many Award Groups are run by schools, Clackmannanshire also benefits from the Clackmannanshire Open Award Group which is open to anyone aged between 14 and 25 who wants to gain any level of the Award. The Clackmannanshire Open Award Group is run by people with a wealth of experience and enthusiasm and they are always keen to hear from interested young people. For more details on how to join please contact Michael Clark, the Award Development Officer, on 01259 763959.
