Pupils help to tackle Tillicoultry litter

Thursday 23rd April 2009

Pupils from Tillicoultry Primary School Eco Committee, with the help of Clackmannanshire's Bio- Diversity Co-ordinator, Guy Harewood, did their bit to help clean up their local environment on Wednesday 22nd April. Their efforts were part of a National Spring Clean promoted by the campaign group Keep Scotland Beautiful which encourages local groups to contribute towards care of their community.

Pupils spent an hour collecting dropped litter close to their school and also learned how litter is not only unsightly but can be harmful to local wildlife. In an hour they filled eight bin bags.

This litter pick also compliments the work the Eco Committee have achieved in their own playground organising pupil litter patrols, helping classmates to be responsible to care for their own school grounds.
