Tag Rugby was at a high last Wednesday with nine teams from the Alloa Academy cluster primary schools taking part in the TAG rugby festivals. The festivals took place at Alloa Rugby Club where over 120 primary 7 boys and girls enjoyed a fun filled morning of rugby in fantastic playing conditions.

There was great rugby played at the festival and a lot of talented players for the future. The children were playing for fun and enjoyment with the ethos of the festivals on fair play. Councillor Bobby McGill was present to hand out the awards at the end of the festival for Best Boy/Girl, these players demonstrated good rugby skill, team work and fair play throughout. Sportsmanship Awards were presented to both a boy and girl for the players who showed a positive attitude to all other players and officials and fair play during games.

At the end of the festival Falkirk RFC stand-off Daz Kapene, a New Zealander, performed the 'Haka' for the children which they appreciated immensely.

The festival was a great success and Ashley Ireland, Rugby Apprentice, thanked pupils, teachers, Daz Kapene and Clackmannanshire Council Sport Development Team for all their effort and input on the days. She added: "It was a great day and all the pupils seemed to enjoy themselves. We are looking forward to seeing new faces down at the two local rugby clubs this weekend."
