Portfolio holder for Inclusion, Councillor George Matchett, will be touring the new Alva Academy at 10.20 on Friday 3 April. You are invited to send a photographer.

Councillor Matchett, along with ward councillors and Council leader Janet Cadenhead, will be shown around the new Alva Academy building, along with Head Teacher John Meney and a group of pupils from the school. The unique design of the school brings together state-of-the-art facilities in three wings, while the green roof reflects the nearby Ochil Hills. Students will move in to the school on 24 April.

Councillor Matchett said, 'This is the second new school to open in recent weeks and I'm looking forward to seeing the layout. It provides the best possible environment for learning, while meeting rooms, sports and conference facilities will also be available to the wider community.'

John Meney added, 'This is a very exciting time for the school, and I'm delighted that we're at a stage where councillors and others can visit the building. Each of the three new secondary schools has been designed and built individually, taking staff, student and parent needs into account as well as the neighbouring environment, so while it shares the top-class specification of Alloa Academy, there will also be plenty that is unique.'
