Over the past six months 16 Primary School teams have been battling it out on the badminton court in an effort to win this year's league title. The Primary 6/7 competition is part of the Clackmannanshire Primary School Sports Association's Annual Programme and after more than 400 games and 100 matches six schools reached the final on 6th March.

Tullibody Civic Centre hosted the final games with Claremont, St. Serf's, Abercromby, Clackmannan, Alva and Tillicoultry Primaries all involved. Each match consisted of four singles and four doubles matches, two each for boys and girls. The finals day saw the culmination of effort put in on behalf of all the pupils, their teachers and other school staff and every match played was an excellent advert for the sport of badminton.

On the day there could only be one winner and that was Tillicoultry Primary School who beat Menstrie Primary 5-3 in the final round of games. Clackmannan were 3rd, St. Serf's 4th, Claremont 5th and Alva 6th.

Alison Mackie, Active Schools Manager, who organised and ran the leagues with her Active Schools colleagues said: "We had the biggest entry ever into the league this year and it is great to see the standard that the children are getting to. Congratulations to the more than 130 pupils that took part this year and well done to Tillicoultry Primary who won the league for the first time."
