The results of the post mortem carried out on the Dolphin, which was found at Forthbank, Alloa, on 4th December, 2001, are now available.
The dolphin was found to be an adult female common dolphin weighing 110kg and measuring 199cm in length. Sadly the dolphin was also found to be in early pregnancy.
The examination was carried out by Mr. Tony Patterson, Scottish Strandings Scheme Veterinary Pathologist with the Scottish Agricultural College, Inverness. He concluded that, unfortunately, the dolphin had died from live stranding.
