Changes Afoot in Tullibody

Drivers and pedestrians in and around Tullibody will have noticed a couple of significant changes on the roads recently.

A new double mini-roundabout has been installed at Tullibody Cross to ease the flow of traffic at this busy junction. Three new zebra crossings have been added at this junction to assist pedestrians and to remind drivers to be aware of people crossing.

A new pedestrian crossing has been included with the new traffic lights that have been installed on the A907 at the Station Road junction, Cambus.

Drivers had raised concerns about a lack of visibility leaving Station Road onto the A907 and the new traffic lights should ease this. The crossing will allow pedestrians, including school children, from the growing community of Cambus to walk to Tullibody more safely.

This crossing will also accommodate cyclists travelling between Tullibody and the recently improved cycle route to Alloa. Work is also ongoing to complete the cycle route from Cambus to Old Tullibody Bridge at the River Devon then on towards Stirling.

Sustainability Portfolio Holder Councillor Eddie Carrick said: "Tullibody and Cambus are two growing communities and we need to make sure that traffic can flow smoothly and safely at these key junctions. It's always a problem to meet the needs of both pedestrians and vehicles but hopefully this investment will make life a little easier for both."

Alan Murray, Team Leader Traffic and Transportation said: "The double mini-roundabout in Tullibody and the traffic lights at Cambus will help to reduce road safety concerns for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists at these locations. The Council is continuing to improve safety and accessibility for everybody and to provide viable travel alternatives to using the car, particularly for short trips."
