Recently a number of cars have been parked in prominent locations in public car parks in Clackmannanshire advertising they are for sale.
This is against the laws that control the use of car parks. These regulations make it illegal for anyone to sell anything in a car park unless in connection with a charitable event or as part of a market.
The growing number of cars for sale has prompted the Council to enforce the regulations and steps are being taken to remove offending vehicles. Notices will be placed on vehicles and any vehicles not removed by their owners will be removed by the Council to a secure compound. They will only be released to the owners following payment of an administration fee covering Council costs.
Mac West, the Council's Roads and Transportation Manager said, "The Council provides the car parks for town centre users including shoppers. If spaces aren't available because they are taken up by cars being displayed for sale shoppers may go elsewhere."
Discussions are taking place with Central Scotland Police and it is planned to begin enforcement this week.
