If you fancy a true taste of the great outdoors why not join Clackmannanshire Countryside Rangers on one of their many events this summer?
From a doggy ramble and pond dipping to a mini-beast hunt and feed the birds day there is something for everyone in their forthcoming programme.
The Rangers are keen to promote their Work Days - a chance to improve your fitness, meet new people and give something back to the local environment.
Work Day activities range from cutting back overgrown plants and rhody bashing to tree planting and nest/bat box building. Safety equipment and advice will be provided - all you need is appropriate clothing and enthusiasm. The work days are just one of the exciting events highlighted in a new leaflet produced by Clackmannanshire Council.
The leaflet - Ranger Events and Walks 2008 - is being launched at Greenfield Park, Alloa, at 10am on Thursday 3rd April. Councillor Eddie Carrick will join rangers Euan Hills and Lisa Ford who will be armed with the equipment which will be supplied to local people when they turn up to take part in events.
Councillor Carrick, Sustainability Portfolio Holder, said: "I think this is an excellent new leaflet which brings together the array of events put on by our first-rate countryside rangers. With spring in the air many local families are looking for ways to get out and about and enjoy our countryside and armed with this leaflet they can't go wrong."
A new addition to the Rangers events programme is the 'Family Camp Out'.
Many people's only experience of camping is a busy and noisy campsite - hardly getting away from it all! Wild camping is poles apart and with this in mind the Countryside Rangers have organised this event where five local families can experience one night under canvas in the local woods.
Booking for the Family Camp Out, which takes place in July at Gartmorn Dam Country Park, will be essential.
The leaflet also highlights the county's first ever Walking Festival, which will be held in September. The Countryside Rangers will be leading a number of the walks, which will take place across the county with walks suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Copies of the leaflet are available in Council offices or by calling 01259 452478.
