In line with advice from the Scottish Government, NHS Boards have been asked to prioritise current stocks of the vaccine for children at greatest risk from the flu virus aged between 2-5 years old, those aged 5 to 7 years in P1 to P3, and those children aged 5 – 17 with underlying health conditions.
As a result, the vaccination programme for children in P4–7 is being postponed until later in the term when we expect further supplies of the vaccine will be available.
If you have a child in P4–7 with a health condition which places them at greater risk of flu please contact your local GP practice to arrange vaccination. Alternative local vaccination arrangements will be put in place for the older children in P4-7 at a later date.
The current supply issues only affect the nasal flu vaccine offered to children – the adult flu vaccination programme continues to operate as normal.
