The Inclusion Support Service (ISS) is a local resource which works flexibly with educational establishments within Clackmannanshire. It is based at Tillicoultry Primary School.
The aim of the service is to support the inclusion of children with Additional Support Needs (ASN) in mainstream early years and primary establishments. The sensory team also supports secondary age young people.
The ISS provides support to children/young people who are at Stage 3 or Stage 4 of the Staged Intervention process, collaborating with school staff and other professionals involved with the child to identify and plan to meet their needs through an individualised education plan or Child’s Plan.
This service consists of an early years ASN team, a primary ASN team, primary English as an Additional Language (EAL) and sensory teams (vision and hearing).
The ASN teams support the inclusion of children with learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder and other identified additional support needs within their mainstream early years and primary establishments.
The sensory team supports children/young people 0-18 with visual or hearing impairments across all educational settings.
EAL team support primary aged children with English as an Additional Language in mainstream primary schools.
Support may be direct support to the child or support to the establishment staff through support with identifying strategies, resources, adapting/differentiating materials or training.
The early years and sensory teams may also support parents/carers through home visits.
Referral to the service is through schools using Clackmannanshire Council’s Staged Intervention Process.
