Service updates

Garden maintenance

As we move into the summer season, gardens are growing fast. If you’re a Council tenant with a garden, please remember it’s your responsibility to look after it – that includes keeping the grass cut and clearing any rubbish.

If you’re a Council tenant and are experiencing difficulties with garden maintenance – particularly if you’re elderly, disabled, and have no one to assist you – you might qualify for our Garden Aid Service.

Please refer to our web page via the link given above for more information and application form. Alternatively, you can contact us by phoning 01259 225100 or emailing housing@clacks.gov.uk and we will be happy to talk you through it.

Bulky uplifts

Additionally, subject to budget availability, all Council tenants are entitled to up to four special uplifts per year for the removal of bulky waste items. To arrange this, please contact us on 01259 450000 or email customerservice@clacks.gov.uk.

Big plant out day

At the end of May, staff from Housing and other Council teams joined forces with local businesses and community groups to take part in the Big Plant Out Day, supporting the Alloa in Bloom initiative.

Together, we planted hundreds of flowers throughout Alloa town centre, helping to brighten up the area as we head into the summer months.

Alloa is now in full bloom once again, with a vibrant display of colour for residents and visitors to enjoy. A big thank you to everyone who got involved and helped make the day a success!

Rent payments

Paying your rent is now easier than ever. We’ve introduced more Direct Debit options for tenants who pay their rent monthly, giving you greater flexibility.

You can now choose from five convenient payment dates: the 1st, 8th, 15th, 21st or 28th of each month – whichever works best for you.

If you’re having difficulty keeping up with rent or have fallen behind, please don’t hesitate to speak with your Housing Officer. We understand that circumstances can change, and we're here to help. We’re committed to supporting you and helping you sustain your tenancy.

Housing support

Are you a tenant who’s finding it difficult to manage your tenancy? If you're facing any challenges, please speak to your Housing officer – they can refer you to our friendly Housing Support team, who can help with a range of issues.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch — we’re here to help you stay on track and feel supported in your home.

Garages

We’ve launched a new billing system for our garage pitch sites. If you rent one of these from us, you should have received your updated bill for 2025/26 period. Please make your payment by the date shown on the letter.

If you have any queries about garages or lock-ups, please call 01259 225100 or email housing@clacks.gov.uk.

Capital maintenance programme

As part of our Capital Maintenance Programme, we’re undertaking a range of improvement works to our stock which will help raise the standard of our housing and help us progress towards the Social Housing Net Zero Standard.

Programmes currently underway include:

In June, the kitchen programme works will move to Carseview area of Tullibody and the window programme will move to the Clackmannan area.

We aim to keep any disruption to a minimum, and we appreciate your patience while we carry out these improvements.

If work is planned for your home, we’ll send you a letter with all the details ahead of time.

Safe electrical testing and rewiring programme

To make sure all our homes meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard  and to help keep everyone safe we carry out a full electrical safety check on each property every five years, or at change of let.

Our current programme is being delivered by our approved contractor, A C Gold, who are carrying out the inspections and any necessary upgrades on our behalf. A recent survey showed that a high percentage of our tenants were satisfied with both the standard of work and the professional manner of the tradespeople. Where any issues came up, they were dealt with quickly and efficiently.

If your home is due for a check, we’ll send you a letter in advance to let you know. A C Gold will then get in touch with your appointment details for the initial inspection.

Current consultations

We're currently developing a number of housing policies. To inform the development, we're seeking views on the following policies:

  • Damp and Mould
  • Housing Repairs
  • Rechargeable Repairs

The consultation will remain open until 15 June.

We encourage all tenants and residents to take part – your feedback is vital and will help shape the future delivery of our services. Please take part in our online consultation.
