You can still vote in person at a polling place in the council by-elections in Scotland and it will be safe to do so.
Polling places will be open from 7am to 10pm. If there’s a queue, you’ll still be able vote as long as you joined it before 10pm.
Safety measures will be in place at the polling places. We will comply with the Scottish Government coronavirus guidelines to make sure it’s safe for you to vote in person.
You may want to plan ahead for how to vote on polling day. Check your poll card as your polling place may have changed since the last election. Polling places are usually busier early in the morning and after school so you may want to go at a different time when it’s likely to be quieter.
If, after 5pm on Wednesday 11 November 2020, you are unable to vote in person because you are following Scottish Government advice or the advice of a registered medical practitioner in relation to coronavirus you can apply to vote by proxy.
Completed applications must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday 19 November 2020. To find out how to apply, please call the Electoral Registration Office on 01786 892289.
