ClacksWeb is the top council site in Scotland in an independent analysis by leading web watchers SiteMorse.

The Council's improved site was launched last month, after changes to its look and enhanced services.

SiteMorse carry out regular checks on sites across the UK. Each month they publish nationally regarded league tables which aggregate results across four key performance areas.

And in the four weeks since the new site was launched, ClacksWeb has rocketed up the list by 314 places to sit at number 16 in the UK - and top dog in Scotland.

Daniel Champion, Web Development Manager said: "We have worked hard on the new site and it's good to see that an organisation as highly regarded as SiteMorse recognises our efforts. Their research is entirely independent, and taken very seriously in the industry, so I'm pleased.

"We are the top ranked Scottish site now, just four weeks after our re-launch. We're still working on the site and have lots of new features in the pipeline. So who knows, perhaps next month we might be top ten in the UK?"

The new site has an new events diary to keep people up to date with what's going on, and they can register for free email updates of things to do in the area.

Other new features include a property search, with details on every property in the area - including the local school, ward information, any planning applications pending and community council information.

New accessibility features and a much improved search facility also makes navigating your way round the site that bit easier.
