Children attending Redwell Primary Nursery Class are very well cared for in a caring, nurturing and stimulating environment, an inspection by the Care Inspectorate has found.

Redwell PS Nursery Class was inspected in April and the inspection report has now been published.

Inspectors graded the nursery as 'Very Good' in all the areas of inspection - quality of care and support, environment, staffing and management and leadership. The report noted that the strong management and leadership and an enthusiastic and motivated staff team have combined to achieve very high standards of early learning and childcare in the nursery.

This inspection found the following key strengths.

- There was an excellent approach to encouraging individual choices and supporting children to achieve their potential
- Children and parents had very good opportunities to participate in the nursery and to influence quality & improvement
- Parents agreed their children were happy and confident with staff and that staff had the skills and experience to care for their children and support their learning
- A highly enthusiastic and motivated staff team worked effectively together to provide the best possible care and learning experiences for children

Education Convener Cllr Ellen Forson said: " The hard work and dedication of the staff, children and their families has contributed to this excellent Care Inspectorate report, which highlights the very high quality of care and learning opportunities that the children attending Redwell PS Nursery Class benefit from. We know that the quality of nursery education is an important factor in ensuring that our young people go on to lead happy and productive lives, and I am delighted that the inspectors have such high praise for the very good standards achieved at Redwell PS Nursery Class."
