Taxi Drivers' Fund

If you are a licensed taxi or private hire driver in Clackmannanshire experiencing financial challenges as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, you may be eligible to receive a one off grant of £1,500.

This support is separate from any other funding you may have received from the Scottish or UK Government. For example, if you have applied to the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme or the Covid-19 Public Transport Mitigation Fund, you may still be eligible.

If you hold a taxi/private hire license, you will receive a letter from the Council informing you of the scheme.

You must complete the online application form to apply for the grant.

Am I Eligible?

Please note that taxi drivers in receipt of state benefits payments (Universal Credit, Statutory Sick Pay, Employment and Support Allowance, Job Seekers’ Allowance, Income Support) are now eligible for the support fund. However, you must consider any tax implications this funding may have on any current support you are receiving, including benefits.

To be eligible for this grant you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a taxi or private hire driver.
  • Your licence must be current and valid and you must be licensed for the period 9 October 2020 to at least 31 January 2021.
  • If your licence was suspended on or before 31 December 2020, you will not be eligible.
  • Up to 31 December 2020, you must have experienced loss of income (50% of turnover, compared with 2019) and incurred overhead costs and expenses.
  • You must have been working or available for work as a taxi or private hire driver up to 31 December 2020.
  • You must not have breached wider Covid regulations/requirements prior to local restrictions.
  • You must not have connections to tax havens, as set out in the Coronavirus (Scotland) (No.2) Act 2020.

You must declare all previous support received from UK, Scottish or local government support schemes for your business to ensure any payment made is compliant with EC State Aid limits.

What additional information do I need to supply with my application form?

In addition to answering all the questions on the online application form you will need to provide us with:

  • Your National Insurance Number.
  • Your Taxi/Private Hire Car Driver's licence badge number and expiry date.
  • A copy of your bank statement, dated within the last three months, which clearly shows your name, account number and sort code.

Please note we may ask you for additional information in order to validate your application.

How will the grant be paid?

Payments will be normally be made directly into your business bank account. If you do not have a business bank account, payment can be made into a personal bank account.
