Walking & Cycling Friendly Streets and Roads

In Clackmannanshire we have introduced a number of quiet streets and walking, cycling and riding friendly roads to encourage more sustainable travel behaviour.

Quiet Streets

Quiet Streets promote links within our local communities for cyclists who wish to avoid the busier main roads.

These streets are relatively lightly trafficked, benefit from 20mph speed limits and may be traffic calmed.

The streets are sign posted and provide links to our local off road and national cycle network routes.

Walking, Cycling and Riding Friendly Roads

These are quieter rural roads where traffic speed and volumes are low.

These roads have specially designed limit signs and aim to remind drivers that they are likely to see walkers, cyclists and horse riders in these locations.

There are signs at the entry points and smaller repeater signs throughout the limit area.

Wee Walk, Wee Cycle the Wee County

The 'Wee Walk, Wee Cycle the Wee County' campaign aims to get more people walking and cycling for local journeys and for commuting, with a focus on promoting Clackmannanshire's excellent walking and cycling network.

We'd like to encourage everyone to think about how they make their local journeys. Getting out in the fresh air, whether you're walking or on your bike, can make you feel great! It'll burn calories, get your heart pumping and can even improve your mood. Why take the car when you can enjoy your local area on foot or by bike instead!

Over the coming months we'll be promoting a range of activities including family cycling & walking events and new and improved network sign posting.
