Licence - Taxi / Private Hire Drivers

If you are applying, registering or giving notification for this particular licence then you can arrange for the Licensing Administrator to send you the application/registration form you require or for you to collect forms at the Council's main office at Kilncraigs. You can also download a PDF of the form on the Licensing Application Forms page and lodge the completed form with the appropriate fee and necessary supporting documents with the Licensing Administrator by post or by calling at Kilncraigs.

Private Hire drivers with a current licence can drive only private hire vehicles.

Taxi drivers with a current taxi licence can drive both private hire and taxi vehicles.

Applicants must be over 18 years of age and have held a driving licence for at least one year. A current driving licence needs to accompany the original application.

Successfull applicants will have to agree to have an identity photograph taken. The Council will request a Police check on the suitability of the applicant.

We aim to complete the paperwork within 6 weeks from the receipt of all the appropriate information and payment of the requested licence fee.

Please note that fees lodged with any Licence application are non-refundable.
