Who makes planning decisions?

Who makes planning decisions?

In the case of most householder type applications, and less complex major applications, the Council has delegated these decisions to the Senior Manager Development as an Appointed Officer under the Council's Scheme of Delegation

Major applications, applications which depart from the Development Plan or those where multiple valid objections have been received are referred to the Planning Committee. The Committee normally meets every two months and a list of dates can be found here.

The Planning legislation provides that all planning applications must be determined in accordance with the Development Plan unless material considerations indicate otherwise.

Following a decision being taken, the applicant and any objectors will receive a copy of the Decision Notice and/or a letter confirming the decision as soon as possible thereafter.
