School catchment areas & placing requests

Clackmannanshire Council operates a scheme of zoned or catchment areas for all of its primary. All children living within a particular school's catchment area normally attend that school. When a child completes primary education he or she will automatically transfer to the associated secondary school for his/her catchment area primary school.

You can use this postcode finder below to find the catchment schools for your home address:

Denominational Schools

Clackmannanshire's two Roman Catholic primary schools have catchment areas which between them overlay all the other schools in the county - that is to say all addresses in Clackmannanshire have two catchment primary schools - one non-denominational and one denominational. Parents are entitled to send their children to their catchment Roman Catholic primary school regardless of their own denomination.

Placing Requests

Parents also have the right to choose a school for their children to attend other than the catchment school - this is commonly known as a placing request. The Council has a duty to grant such requests wherever possible. For more information regarding placing requests please contact the Facilities, Schools and Welfare Team using the details at the bottom of this page.

You can also download Placing Request Application Form for printing to make a placing request.
