Rugby Development

Rugby Development

The Wee County has a great tradition of playing rugby, the centre of which are the two long established clubs in the area, Alloa RFC and Hillfoots RFC.

As a result a number of elite athletes have been a product of rugby development in the area; Adam Ash, Grant Gilchrist, Sean Kennedy, Kevin Bryce and Glen Bryce to name a few.

Our rugby development officer's remit is varied from grassroots to the National Pathway and elite player programme. Our aims include increasing participation by improving appropriate opportunities to train and compete, whilst developing and maintaining strong links and pathways from the 3 schools to club rugby in the area.

The development officer is supported by 2 modern apprentice coaches who are aligned with the 2 clubs in the area, increasing the club identity and strengthening the transition between the community and club.
